A Telegram bot for your business website, without writing code
A Telegram bot can greet every customer, ask your questions and pass the conversation to your team. You don’t need a developer to have one.
Telegram is one of the few chat apps that lets any business make its own bot for free. A bot is a Telegram account run by software: it can greet people, show buttons and open small web pages inside Telegram. For a business, that means every new customer can be welcomed and asked the right questions at any hour.
What a good business bot does
- Greets each new customer by their first name, with your business’s name.
- Shows one clear button that opens your form inside Telegram.
- Passes the conversation to a person: the customer’s messages, photos and voice notes go to your team.
- Tells your team when a new chat starts and when a form comes back.
The usual way: BotFather and a developer
Bots are made by chatting with Telegram’s own @BotFather, which gives you a key for the bot. Connecting that key to a website, a menu and a database is usually a job for a developer.
The simple way: make it inside One Infinite Inbox
In One Infinite Inbox you type the bot’s name and sign in to your own Telegram once, in your browser. One Infinite Inbox talks to BotFather for you, tries close usernames if yours is taken, connects the bot to your website, sets its menu, description and picture, and signs out of Telegram. Our server never sees your Telegram sign-in, only the new bot’s key.
From then on, a customer who presses Start gets a card by themselves and a welcome with your form button. Their answers fill their card, and your team replies from the same inbox it uses for WhatsApp, Messenger, LINE and WeChat.
Tips for your welcome message
- Use their first name, and say who you are.
- Say what the button does and how long it takes.
- Keep it to two or three short sentences.
